Above is a quote from a research done by Esther Sternberg and there is a link between bottled up, unprocessed emotions and a lot of health issues.
Poorly managed emotions have the power to disrupt the body’s hormonal balance, damage the immune system and depletion of brain chemicals thus reducing chances of one having the happy feeling.
The moment your immune system is damaged, you are more susceptible to infectious diseases thus opening you up for contagious diseases like the current coronavirus epidemic as well as other dangerous infectious diseases.
Following on the facts collected from the ongoing coronavirus outbreak; the mortality rate is high amongst those with preexisting health challenges.
Since unmanaged emotions leads to damaged immune system, shouldn’t you then invest time and resources in uping your emotional health status thus ensuring you are well protected.
Some things you can do to up your emotional health status:
1. Avoid taking things dangerous to your brain health as the brain controls your emotions and mental state. A few of such harmful substances or things are alcohol, excess intake of sugar/sugary things as well as playing sports that increase impact on the brain like football.
2. Staying positive and optimistic thus overcoming negative bias. For every negative emotion that crosses your mind, counter with at least 3 positive emotions as these positive emotions reverse the physical effects of negativity
3. Embrace Forgiveness
Forgiveness is often seen as a gift to the ones that hurt us when infact it’s a gift to yourself as the negative emotions further damages the immune system as previously mentioned. A research was conducted in Stanford tagged Stanford Forgiveness Project with 260 adults over a 6 week course and the results showed that the practice of forgiveness was linked to a longer life span and better immune function. Infact it has been proven that it actually lowers the blood pressure and improves cardiovascular health.
As such if you would like to get through this period of Outbreak with ease, tap into the power of positivity and improved emotional Wellness to help yourself and loved ones get through this period.
